Landscapes are a Marker of Time
These long paintings began as a form of contemplation on my sense of separateness from nature.
I started by painting the experience of walking through the landscape, feeling close to my subject.
Over time they became a serious and yet somewhat tongue in cheek reflection on what a future extinction event might bring.
Combined with the small stolen moments paintings (next page) these long paintings examine the difference between environmental / geological time and the fleeting moments that make up an individual life.
